We have noticed a trend prevalent among boys where being mean is celebrated, obedience seems optional and telling a lie is acceptable as a means to stay out of trouble. We therefore came up with the following commitments for the children:

• I will tell the truth, even if it gets me into trouble
• I will be kind, even if it’s uncool
• I will be obedient, even if it is boring
